  • The Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Douglas College is offered as 3 years or 6-term teaching program.

  • This degree program is designed to give students the knowledge and experience for safe, compassionate, evidence-based, competent, and ethical nursing practice.
  • The courses are taught at the David Lam Campus located in Coquitlam. All courses and learning experiences are critical to student success.
  • To be eligible for admission to the Nursing program, students must complete the following courses as part of their 30-credit Certificate in Academic Foundations, with a minimum grade of C+ (65%).
  • The courses required to advance into the 2nd year of the Nursing program are in very high demand and fill quickly.
  • Students are encouraged to plan a second-choice academic program or path in the event that seats are not available in the required Nursing eligibility courses.
  • Students must be able to attend clinical practicums which can occur any day of the week (including weekends). The shifts can be 8 or 12 hours long and may start as early as 6:30 am. 
  • Graduates of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program are prepared to practice nursing in a variety of settings, including acute care (general and selected specialized areas), intermediate care, long-term care, and community care.
  • The average salary of the program goes up to 39,654 USD.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement

Academic Eligibility:

  • Students have to complete a High school graduation degree.
  • A minimum of 17 years of age is required for the students by the end of the first month of studies in the semester of entry to Douglas College.
  • Students must have a GPA of 2.0 on a 4.33 scale.
  • Students hold a minimum overall grade average of 60% (or equivalent) in the final year of high school.
  • Students acquire a minimum final grade of “C” or 60% (or equivalent) in Grade 11 Mathematics or equivalent for most programs.
  • Students must complete the following required 30 university transfer (UT) credits, with a minimum grade of C+ (65%) in each 3 credit course:
    • Biology (BIOL 1103, BIOL 1203, BIOL 2200, BIOL 2401)
    • ENGL 1130 and one UT ENGL elective course
    • MATH 1160 or PSYC 2300
    • 3 credit UT Social Science/Humanities elective
    • 6 credits UT electives

Language Requirements:

  • The students must be able to understand and fluently speak the language of instruction (English) in the program. Proof of linguistic proficiency may be required.
  • The students whose official language is not English must submit the English Language Proficiency scores like IELTS or TOEFL.
  • If the student does not meet the language requirements they can take English Language Learning and Acquisition (ELLA) program and complete it and pursue this program.
