- Brings together the key aspects of national and international security with an emphasis on contemporary security issues.
- By studying the core elements of terrorism, security and intelligence in the foundation year, students are able to undertake specialised study in how to counter the terrorist threat, apply intelligence gathering techniques, think critically, analyse and understand criminal motivation.

Academic admission requirements may be satisfied through completion of one of the following:
- AQF Cert IV;
- Successfully completed 0.25 EFTSL of study at bachelor level or higher at an Australian higher education provider (or equivalent);
- Special Tertiary Admissions Test;
- University Preparation Course;
- Indigenous University Orientation Course;
- Aboriginal Student Intake Test;
- Experience Based Entry Scheme.
- Higher Secondary Certificate or Equivalent (Standard Entry) – 65%.
