1. Very interested in a particular PI's work - completely aligned with my research interests. 2. Excellent scope for biomedical research with good funding and with a fantastic infrastructure. 3. Scholarship opportunities for international students. 4. The very transparent application process.

Course Curriculum

9

Since this is a full-time research degree, there is no fixed curriculum. I'm free to take up any workshop or course that interests me along as it's available for me to register for. There are several seminars and symposiums where you can meet people outside your lab to get different points of view to work on your project. There are a lot of opportunities to do interdisciplinary research

Exams

A Master's degree or the equivalent of an Australian Honors' degree was required to apply for a Ph.D. The application process required to submit a project proposal (after approval from a prospective supervisor) along with transcripts associated with previous degrees. An SOP (different from the project proposal), at least three LORs, and an updated CV were required to be submitted as well I had to go through an interview with my potential supervisor before I applied for a Ph.D. position. If successful, an expression of interest form filled by the supervisor would enable me to apply for the Ph.D. position through the website.

Placement

9

There are several opportunities to apply for a post-doctoral position after completing your Ph.D. Conferences and collaboration are very helpful in networking and can be used to help you secure a postdoctoral fellowship.

Internship

No. I haven't

Events

There are several clubs and activities for students here and opportunities to even be involved in the organization of these clubs and societies. In my case, I've been a part of a committee myself and there are Ph.D. exclusive events too if you're looking to mingle with other Ph.D. students from other departments

Fees

AUD 46,500.00/ year

Scholarship

1. Monash Graduate scholarship: $29,000/year for 3.5 years 2. Monash International Tuition Scholarship (MITS): Covers full tuition cost for 3.5 years . The scholarship application was a part of the main Ph.D. application itself (I just had to indicate that I wanted to be considered for these two scholarships). There was no separate scholarship application portal.

Faculty

7

In terms of supervision, most PI's here are extremely well versed in their field and the department is filled with experienced postdoctoral researchers who are very approachable.

Hostel
