Devanshi Kotak Review at University Of New South Wales [UNSW], Sydney | Collegedunia

Organised course structure, balanced student life - UNSW

Good reputation and leading-edge facilities along with the fun atmosphere. Also with HECS and being an Australian citizen, there is no difference in cost when choosing more prestigious universities that offer better educational programs.

Course Curriculum :

The course curriculum is quite well organized and interesting for first-year students -however, at times some complex topics in science can be rushed and this can be quite difficult for some students. Also, there are online threshold materials that must be completed and understood to attend lectures - this baseline knowledge every week required to attend lectures can be difficult to maintain at times.

Exams :

HSC - higher school certificate of NSW and ATAR was used to determine entrance- this is Australian tertiary admissions rank.

Placement :

there are good placements and job opportunities by UNSW as there are ties with large firms across Sydney such as PriceWaterhouseCoopers which recruits graduates from nearly all faculties of the university. Along with this, commercial companies such as coca cola also have ties alongside government organizations e.g curio that provide job opportunities.

Internship :

No, the college doesn\'t provide internship however 4th year honors students can get involved in lab demonstrating jobs which are salaried. They usually administer first and second-year lab students in their lab lessons to help them out.

Events :

all events are celebrated in UNSW. recently the festival of Holi was celebrated by UNSW Indian society which is the festival of colors. Many different powder colors were used for a color fight amongst students to celebrate. along with this many other cultural societies run events to celebrate festivals. UNSW also has an orientation where every year before the study period starts in which every night there are different events to attract students on campus. These events are usually free e.g comedy night with famous comedians.

Fees :

The fee structure is different for different faculties but for a band3 HECS (science degree) it is usually $ 1170 AUD per subject and 8 subjects need to be completed in a year. However, students can opt to do 9 or less depending on their degree structure. Other costs such as student amenities fee are $110 per term, need to be paid three times a year.

Scholarship :

ALL Australian citizens are eligible for HECS FEE-HELP for university which is an interest-free loan and this can be gained by providing your tax file number to the university.

Examination Structure :

the exam structure is weekly quizzes for some subjects along with practical laboratory tests and then midterms that cover half the terms material covered in lectures and labs. then there is a final exam that tests Everything. this happens 3 times a year because UNSW has trimester.

Faculty :

The faculty is good, and even for postgraduate RESEARCH Unsw has good facilities and current interesting projects. The faculty has a good digital understanding and uploads useful content to help out students.

Hostel :

There are options available for students to live on campus such as the college's example Goldstein that includes food and all other costs e.g electricity and then there are university terraces that can be shared. Some students choose to live off campus as it is cheaper however it increases travel time.
