Australian National University is the best in Australia, which is the primary reason I chose it. It's also close to home, so I can get back easily and cheaply. Not only that, but as far as politics go, it's the best place to be.
Course Curriculum
I enjoy it, it's all interesting. I primarily am interested in the investigative, journalistic side of politics, but I enjoy learning about the processes and government formations practiced. Postgraduate study is looking likely.
Exams
HSC, and completed a Diploma at the ANU. My HSC was 75.3, and the diploma was just completed after a year of study.
Placement
Sufficient, the degree is quite broadly applicable. I feel as though I'll likely move into pure politics after graduating, and once developing some kind of platform then get into journalism and opinion editorial writing
Internship
There are certain scholarships available should you wish to take on a level of responsibility in my residential college. As for academic college, there is also an array of scholarships, but they require eligibility.
Events
All sorts of orientation week events, plus sporting events against other colleges, music, academics and just casual hanging out. A traditional event was full moon goon, hosted on the last Sunday of every week.
Fees
Fortnightly withdrawn from my account, and I pay 255 a week. This doesn't include parking and food, they're extra.
Scholarship
None, apart from money given in exchange for Senior Residency roles. That's the only assistance I've received.
Examination Structure
It's different for every course, some have mid-semester exams, and some have only final exams. Essays and assignments occur along with side all other examinations of course, and weighting varies between courses also.
Faculty
Pretty good, could be better organized, but not too bad. There is a significant lack of transparency, which makes things difficult, but it will hopefully improve.
Hostel
I generally do all the cleaning, because the others don't clean well. I don't cook often and spend too much on food. If I were to manage the residence, I'd have an optional extra for a cleaner to come into the room and clean up, should the students agree to pay for it.
