Every since my high school, I had the aspirations to pursue my graduation in a reputed foreign university. I choose University of Newcastle because of its ideal location, which is perfect for work life balance. Due to Newcastle being near Sydney, that allows me to be close knit to my extended family living in Sydney and catch up on weekends. carried a strong passion towards accounting & finance, and I can clearly comprehend the importance of my field of study for some global player to tap the global market or economy.

Course Curriculum

8

Currently, I'm in my 2nd year of the course. The best thing about the faculty of business and law have some great professors and lecture staffs. Usually, most of the course's lectures are recorded and there is an allocated time for workshops, where students can discuss and solve problem questions on the particular topic. This could be great for students to revise the learning and understand the topic with real life case studies with some great teaching staffs.

Exams

I I had to provide my IELTS score and a statement of Purpose at the time of application at University of Newcastle. The minimum IELTS score is 6.5 bands and other eligibility criteria is clear mentioned on the university's website.

Placement

I was working part time with an accounting firm, 20 minutes away from the proximity of my home. Which allowed me to gain some accounting experience and build my professional profile from early on. My area of study allows me to be flexible with industries and work in different environments. I do believe that university does provide enough support with students recruitment, with their mock interview and aid with cover letter for job application.

Internship

Yes it does. University of Newcastle have campus jobs like student engagement officer, library staff, Pass session leaders (a session for students to learn from their peers), and many more. As an international student, you are limited to 20 hours per week as part time. And university does have a careers centre for students to provide guidance in the job prospects and building their profile, cover letter and resume to best fit the job description.

Events

9

University of Newcastle is extremely diversified and encourages multiple events to support different cultures from different countries. The university have multiple clubs and societies celebrating their cultural events. As being an executive member of indian association of Newcastle University, we have organised Diwali, holi, independence day, etc. Every club has funding to organise these events for university students, with main purpose to unity the local and international student together and celebrate their cultural events.

Fees

The fee have to be paid before the census date for each semester for the course and the fee structure for each program changes every year. There are few scholarships for international students at University of Newcastle, but there is some scholars for academic excellence, to keep up the Distinction grade.

Examination Structure

My courses have assesments with certain weightage for each assessments including final exam. The weightage depends on the course and the students required to complete each assignments or other assesments like online quizes, weekly reports, etc. which is calculated and marked throughout the semester, in order to finalize the details for the final result for the course.

Faculty

8

As an bachelors student, I found the faculty of business and law very helpful in providing guidance for you career aspirations and I appreciate their initiative towards events and seminars related to job prospects and opportunities.

Hostel

8

I live off campus and I had to find my accommodation on my own, but university did help a bit to find off campus accomodation by providing the students with the information and webpages to find houses on lease near the university proximity. The rent mostly include everything but some accommodation could be subject to electricity, gas and water bill. Living off campus can be relatively cheaper compare to on campus accomodation.
