I chose this tertiary institution as it was local to my rural home town meaning I didn't need to move away. The small scale of the institution also appealed to me, as I believed it would be less overwhelming than a larger uni. I applied through UAC while completing my year 12 VCE studies. I got accepted with a lower star mark than the expected entrance level. The application fee was included when applying through VTAC and covered all uni applications, including different institutions. I applied for multiple universities, and alongside this applied for two courses at the Charles sturt University.

Course Curriculum

I believe the faculty of the university is well structured and community-based, particularly for a rural-based campus. There is always plenty of help readily available.

Exams

For this course, I did not need to sit any further testings outside of my year 12 VCE exams, that provided an atar mark. There were however minimum entrance requirements such as a 25 in English and mathematics. Other subjects were recommended but not required. In year 12 I satisfactorily completed English literature, general mathematics, geography, history, psychology, and outdoor and environmental science. My final study scores ranged from a 28-39, providing me with an atar of 67.

Internship

The placements and job opportunities are listed frequently on the notice boards on campus. Teachers are always willing to help outsource placement programs for students, particularly if they are wanting to work at an institution outside of the general opportunities.

Fees

HECS loans are available to all Australian students and therefore I have placed my college fees into that loan system. I am unsure of what international applicants have available to them, however, as we have scholarships available for us overseas I am more than certain there would be plenty available.

Hostel

I live off-campus and travel just over an hour each day to uni via car. My reasons for living off-campus was so I could still stay at home. However, living off-campus can become challenging as you haven?t got all facilities available to you at all times, and often the price of everything rapidly adds up.
